Tara & Scott's wedding * Part 1

Tara and Scott. So charming, so charismatic.....oh so pretty.   They are the kind couple you want to be friends with.  They are the kind of couple that makes you appreciate friendship and what it means to have true and loyal friends and family.  And while their wedding was an intimate affair rather than a big, bold wedding, it was obvious that their intimate group of family and friends mean the world to them and they mean the world to their family and friends.

Tara and Scott's wedding was held at the Villa in East Bridgewater, Ma....

Part two from Tara and Scott's wedding is coming soon!!  Stay tuned!

Olivia is 6!

Today is Liv's birthday.  Six is such a different age than any of the past ages.  I'm seeing so much more independence in Olivia these days.  And not only that, but she's a little bit of an old soul, so she seems even more grown up to me than she ever has.  And I know that makes sense; I mean, the older you get, the more grown up you should seem, right?  Most people anyway :)   All the things that I love about her -- her kindness, her sincerity, her willingness to help and her agreeable nature -- all these things seem to be shining through even more now.  Does it happen like that?  All of a sudden your kid turns a certain age, and BAM!, she becomes who she is, or who she's supposed to be?  Well, she's turning into an amazing kid and I am proud to be her mother.

Here are some of my fave pics of her over the past few years:

Happy Birthday sweet Olivia!

I'm a mentor! (Again!)

I love my job, I know how to do it, I have been doing it for years, but trying to teach someone how YOU do YOUR job is a whole other ball park.  Being a mentor is a total priviledge, but it's a little bit scary too.  You have a high school student relying on you to actually teach her something fairly important to her, and hope that you're explaining yourself well, and hope that she's actually learning something from you, something that she will take with her and hopefully apply to her life in a meaningful, significant way.  I mean, let's face it, I'm no teacher; I'm a photographer.  And frankly, I am still learning every day.  But I can share my personal experience and hope that it's enough to make her think, "wow, photography is really cool!"  That's it.  Well, maybe a little more than that...like, I hope she learned something too.  My mentoree, Amber, and I had a little time this week to shoot a little bit, just so I could teach her the basics.  We ventured around my dreary, foliage and flower free yard, but managed to find a few things on which to test out her newly acquired photography knowledge.......

But first, a shot or two inside with two of the most adorable children on the planet....What? No. I'm not biased at all.....

Amber's pics - I let her borrow my Nikon with a 50mm lens....

I love how you can make something like this textured tree into a really cool detail shot...

My pics...

Here's Amber, high school senior, AKA my mentoree (is that a word? because I keep using it)...

Avery found a pine cone...

This shoot was definitely a good lesson in detail shots, which are some of my favorite shots to take at weddings, or at all, for that matter.  We didn't do too bad considering we had nothing but leafless trees and dead grass to look at outside :)

Being a mentor is definitely challenging, but it's rewarding to know you may have helped shape a person's future....maybe.

It's Avery's Birthday!

Every year your kid turns a year older, you "can't believe" she's......whatever age she may be.  Well, my baby turns four today and "I can't believe she's four already!" Both my girls are totally different, kind of like their mommy and their auntie ;)  Avery is the sweet, wacky one who's boundless energy is surpassed only by her perpetual loudness.  She's crazy and fun, and loving and affectionate, all wrapped up in the cutest little person you've ever seen.  Oh, and she has the most ridiculous blue eyes you have ever seen too!  (I'd like to personally thank her father for that.)

Here are a few of my faves from the past couple of years...

Happy Birthday sweet Avery!

Hey Valentines

We don't really "do" much for Valentine's Day, although it's becoming clear to me since Olivia entered kingdergarten, that all holidays, big or small, are celebrated in school, and subsequently make an appearance in my house whether I want it to or not.  (Think FunDip for a six year old.) Even though it's not top priority here, I thought I would give Valentine's Day a shout out, an acknowledgement, if you will, so I don't seem like some Valentine's Day scrooge!  And here are my Valentines....

See how we look lovingly at our little cherubs?

Now that's more like it.....

Happy Valentine's Day!
